MUSIC PERFORMANCE

Music Performance Level 3

Performance Skills LEVEL 3 at LAMP Learning offers students the opportunity to develop;

  • Their understanding of a variety of approaches to performance

  • Opportunities to give and receive feedback on aspects of their own and their peer’s performance skills

  • Understanding of the performance industry

 

This course is a progression route from the Level 2 in Music Performance that we offer at LAMP and will focus on more specialist knowledge and skills in music.

NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Performance Skills at LAMP Learning offers students the opportunity to develop;

  • Their understanding of a variety of approaches to performance

  • Opportunities to give and receive feedback on aspects of their own and their peer’s performance skills

  • Understanding of the performance industry

Alongside this, students can develop skills in;

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Team working

  • Problem solving

  • Communication on a professional/ workplace level

 

The course embeds Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT through;

  • Updating rehearsal logs

  • Discussing with peers and providing feedback

  • Producing a CV

  • Calculating costs to putting on a performance

 

The qualification requires students to complete 3 mandatory units. These are;

  • Unit 01 – Rehearse and perform

  • Unit 02 – Prepare for an audition

  • Unit 03 – The healthy and safe performer

 

and 4 optional units chosen from;

  • Unit 04 – Employment opportunities for performers

  • Unit 05 – develop teaching skills in performance

  • Unit 06 – Develop solo performance skills

  • Unit 07 – Develop ensemble performance skills

  • Unit 09 – Performing in musical theatre

  • Unit 10 – Plan and promote a performance

 

Level 3 Music is entirely coursework based, with no exams, making it an ideal choice for young people that suffer from anxiety. The qualification is marked as a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* it is then internally quality assured by our team, and externally quality assured by NCFE. Progress is evidenced in an online portfolio, which includes text, pictures, video, and audio. Students must participate in a minimum of 6 performances.

 

As this is a Level 3 qualification, it has UCAS points attached to it. These are awarded as follows;

  • Distinction*: 42

  • Distinction: 36

  • Merit: 24

  • Pass: 12

L3 extended diploma

 

NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performance Skills offers students an opportunity to study more units than the Diploma. Students must complete 3 mandatory units and 7 optional units.

 

UCAS points are awarded as follows;

• Distinction*: 56

• Distinction: 48

• Merit: 32

• Pass: 16

  • Level 4 Award in Commercial Skills for Creative Industry Professionals

  • Level 4 HNC Diploma in Performing Arts

  • Level 5 Diploma in Speaking in Public

  • Level 5 Diploma in Music

  • Level 5 Diploma in Professional Acting, Dance or Music Performance

  • Employment/self-employment in the industry
